Isaac Hayes - Hot Buttered Soul

This album rules. Released in 1969, It was Isaac Hayes breakthrough into fame. Up until this point he had been a behind-the-scenes songwriter and producer for the massively important Memphis soul label Stax Records, and his debut album had not gotten much attention or acclaim. This album consists of only four songs, so most of them are pretty damn long. The first song, Walk On By, has perhaps the most awesome opening to an album that I've ever heard. If you're into soul, or you like Chef from South Park's voice, you need this.

Hot Buttered Soul

Wolf Eyes - Nuisance

Nuisance is a more recent Wolf Eyes production, hitting the music scene in 2008. Again, for you Wolf Eyes fans, here is some more candy. Unfortunately Aaron Dilloway was no longer and active member of the band when this album was released, but it is still really good. Plus Dilloway makes his own music that is also very good.

Wolf Eyes - Dread

Here is Wolf Eyes' first major release, Dread. The LP was produced by Hanson and American Tape in 2001, then reissued on CD in 2002 by Bulb label. I am not 100% sure, but I do believe that this was recorded while the great Aaron Dilloway was still a member of the group. It's a great listen for those who are interested in the band.

The Smiths - Rank

Rank was released in 1988. It is a recording of the October 23, 1986 performance at the National Ballroom in Killburn. The quality of this live recording is very good. Ranking number 2 on the British charts, this album captures the Smith's at their very best. Playing along with them and strengthening their sound is rhythm guitarist Craig Cannon. Most of the tracks come from their 3rd album "The Queen is Dead." Do enjoy yet another great live Smiths recording.

Louder Than Bombs

Here is a collection of most of the Smith tracks that weren't released on their four studio albums: "The Smiths", "Meat is Murder", "The Queen is Dead" and "Strange Ways, Here We Come." It is a fun listen, and definitely worth it for any Smiths fan.

The Smiths - Live Hamburg 84

The Smiths are one fantastic band; with Morrisey's distinct voice, and with Johnny Marr's amazing guitar riffs the band will always stay at the top of my charts. Unfortunately the quality of this recording isn't the greatest, but it is still enjoyable for any Smiths fan. At the beginning of the fourth track, This Charming Man, you can hear an audience member screaming out "Oh my God!" Which makes this recording all the more worth it. Give it an ear, and enjoy.

Lifetones - For A Reason

This is a 1983 solo album by Charles Bullen, one third of the late 70s British experimental band This Heat. If you're a fan of This Heat, don't expect anything too similar. This is for the most part a dub record, but Bullen's vocals sound just like This Heat. Basically if you like that band and you like dub at all then download this shit right now. The second track Good Side is absolutely phenomenal. And if you don't know This Heat you should probably listen to both of their records a couple times before you listen to this because they are much better.

New Wavves

Yeah, right. There is no way I will even give that trash band Wavves's new album, King of the Beach, even a second of my time. His first album was the worst thing that has ever happened to me. This may just be extremely rude, but I thought it necessary to express my strong opposition towards his music.

Broken Water- S/T

Here is Broken Water's early demo tape. I haven't given it too much attention, but so far it all sounds really good. Give it an ear, and enjoy. It came out a few months before their debut album Night-People. "Its six tracks of Killer drumming, shimmering wall of noise guitars, dreamy vocals, and psychedelic shoegaze showcase how killer Broken Water was right out of the gate."

Women- Public Strain

Women is an experimental rock band from Calgary, Canada. Their debut album, Women, was released in 2008, and I enjoyed it very much. This is their second album, Public Strain. It is also a very fun album. Supposedly the album isn't supposed to be released in the U.S until late September, 2010. So the quality of this leak may be a little low. But then again that just gives me something to look forward to in the months to come. Enjoy!

New Kanye? Power

The first single off Kanye's new album A Good Ass Job has been leaked/released. DJ Premier, Q-Tip, the RZA and Pete Rock will be producing this upcoming album. With such a powerful group of producers the album is most likely going to be amazing. Unfortunately the track Power ft. Dwele is co-produced by Kanye and Symbolic One, meaning that was done by some whack producer, not by one of these demi-gods. We will just have to wait for those tracks to come out along with the rest of the album. Enjoy!

Metal Box/Second Edition

Public Image Limited or PIL was an English rock group formed by singer John Lydon of the Sex Pistols. This album is one of my favorite albums of all time. The album consists of long with creepy guitars and singing, but it concludes with the very pleasant track Radio 4. Unfortunately this album isn't for everyone, but I hope you will all enjoy it as much as I do.

Kids Soundtrack

Here is the soundtrack to the movie Kids (1995). The movie is really, really good. Most good movies need a good soundtrack, and this movie is not an exception.

Squirrel Bait

Earlier on I uploaded some music by the band Slint, and now by request I am uploading the music by the band Squirrel Bait. They came before Slint and are comprised of almost the exact same members... they just aren't as amazing. They are like a louder, punkier version. Here are their two studio albums. ENJOY!

Hella- Biblical Violence live

This is a live track I ripped from a youtube video. As always, Zach Hill is unreal. Enjoy. Non-live version of the song comes from Hella's full-length Hold Your Horse In, which I can put up here if anyone requests. For now:

Onra

Onra is a French hip hop beat maker. This is his new album. It's a fun listen, reminds me of that good old JayDee.

NIRVANA

Here is some Nirvana. They were probably my favorite band between the ages of 5-13. They are still kick ass too. This is their sliver vinyl. Also this is all pre Grohl, so it has a nice early Nirvana feel to it.

Ash Ra Tempel

Here is some more delicious Kraut to add to your palette. Ash Ra Tempel is also one of my favorites. This particular album deserves a little more of my attention, but I couldn't wait to share it with all of you.

Joanna Newsom- Walnut Whales

I know this is a pretty extreme contrast to the stuff my homeboy has been putting up lately, but Joanna Newsom is certainly an artist who deserves all the recognition the world will allow her. Certainly not the most impressive release from Newsom's fairly prolific history, Walnut Whales is a rare record self-recorded by Joanna pre-record label signature. Most of the album consists of earlier and shittier recordings of songs made popular by the Milk-Eyed Mender album, but any Newsom fan would certainly will be curious to hear what the older versions of their favorites sound like (many songs performed exclusively with an electric piano).

Cluster Buster

Here is some good old Cluster. Another fantastic krautrock group.

Melted

I woke up this morning way too early with a hangover, and since I'm not working today I decided I should just upload a lot of music.

Here is the new Ty Segall, I've been meaning to upload it for a long time, but I kept putting it off. I like it much more than their first album, which I never really got into. It's a lot more bizarre, but it maintains their trashy lo-fi sound. Some of the tracks remind me of Kurt Cobain's grungy guitar lines, but once Ty Segall's lo-fi vocals would come in the similarity would be completely lost. It is a fun album, though it took me a while to get into it, because I don't really like lo-fi too much.

Agitation Free

Well, Agitation Free is one heck of a Krautrock band, and Malesch is probably my favorite album by them. I hope you all enjoy this. It is really worth it to listen to this shit.

B / V

Just found this bad boy while prowling the web at work. It is a live album from Boris's 2010 tour with Variations. It is pretty good, especially if you are as deprived of fresh Boris as I am. Please enjoy this juicy treat.

Bobby Conn

I guess I lied, I am still going to be posting. Here is one of my favorite albums. I suppose it is Bobby Conn at his very best. Perfect to listen to on a summer day, as you melt your face under the blazing sun. Enjoy!

Bobby Conn said Golden Age “is really about this depressing realization that I managed to extend the teenage years into my mid-30s—that’s happened to a lot of people. American society is structured to deal with superficial identity questions to keep people from making trouble. If your main issue is how you dress and can you wear nose piercings to work, then you’re probably not going to protest war.”

Summer

For those of you who actually look at this blog...
It's summer, and it is rare that I find myself near my music library. In other words, my posts will reduced.
Also, summer colors are up and running for your enjoyment.
Enjoy the Sun, Harrold.
